Creating your own diet plan to lose weight is important regardless of which diet you are committed to following. There are plenty of diet books on the market today but unfortunately most don't always include a diet plan that you can follow on a daily basis. It is more a matter of making it up as you go along but for a diet to work a plan needs to be put in place as you will be more likely to stick to the diet.
Here are some tips to setting up your own diet plan:
First spend a week counting the number of calories you already consume. Just write down all of the foods you eat on a daily basis for one whole week. At the end of the week determine the number of calories you consume in a day. You will need a calorie counter for this.
Once you have an average daily amount, then you can decide on how many calories you would like to lose. For instance if you currently consume approximately 2000 calories a day then you might decide to reduce it to 1500 and use this as your daily calorie count that you will follow.
Decide how many meals you will be eating per day. You should have at least 3 but preferably 5. The smaller and more regular your meals the more likely you will lose weight. Why?..because if your body is constantly being fed it no longer has a reason to store fat for a rainy day.
Start with the first meal of the day. If you are following a diet book look for their food suggestions for breakfast. If they don't have any then check their list of allowable foods and choose ones from there that you would like to eat at breakfast. Ensure that you follow their calorie count or your own determined calorie count as you decide on your meal. Keep doing this for each meal of the day.
Write up your plan in a notebook or on your computer in a spreadsheet or Word document and keep track of it on a daily basis.
