Stick to a Healthy Diet Plan - Avoid the Short Term Fads

When you first decide to lose some weight it can be a daunting experience. Particularly as when you do a small amount of research you quickly find that there are all sorts of different diet options all promising fast and easy weight loss.

Unfortunately not all diets work well for everybody, so while one person may have success with a new fad diet, another person only puts on weight. In reality most diets can have some effect but often they do not work long term.

The reason they are short lived is because they make you stick to one regime for a period of time to banish the fat. When you complete the plan you go back to your old ways as the diet is so one dimensional in terms of the food choice you have. The result is you quickly pile the pounds back on.

The other reason is that they often insist you cut back heavily on your food. This results in your metabolism slowing down and your body then stores fat. You may see some initial improvements but it is only going to last so long. The results again are short term before your body reacts against it.

A safer and more long term diet is one where you still eat the required amount of calories your body needs but you spread it over 6 small meals throughout the day. This way you are not tempted to snack when you get hungry. Concentrate on eating good and healthy food options and add in some exercise and you are in great shape to shed those extra pounds.
