Is the Low Sugar Diet Plan the Miracle Weight Loss Diet Everyone Has Been Looking For?

It seems like there is a new diet craze coming out every few weeks and one of the latest is the low-sugar diet plan. There are already many books on this topic in your local book store and the diet itself has been around for some time as a diabetic diet plan yet this is the first time that it is being circulated to the general public as a miracle cure for weight loss. So it brings up the question, "can the low sugar diet plan also be beneficial to the non-diabetic?" We will look into this as we go through the article, so let's look at how your body creates and uses body sugars.

Body Sugars

When you ingest food, let's say a ham and cheese sandwich on whole-wheat, your digestive system breaks down the carbs (lettuce, tomato and bread) into simple sugars. That sugar goes through your blood and the insulin created by your pancreas goes to work by delivering the sugar to critical body parts such as muscles, organs and your brain for energy.

What Is The Purpose Of A Low Sugar Diet Plan?

The diet itself was designed to keep the blood sugar level of diabetics consistent so they do not get the high or low blood sugar levels that can be very dangerous for them. Why? If there is a sudden rush of blood sugars, the pancreas can overproduce insulin which would take all the blood sugars out all at once causing and energy crash. Cravings start for more sugar laden foods thus creating an extremely dangerous situation for a diabetic. Most diabetics will also have weight issues as they will have a condition known as insulin resistance which occurs when the pancreas stops making enough insulin to control the blood sugar levels. The excess sugars in the bloodstream end up as fat deposits and you gain weight putting in at risk of heart disease, cancer, stroke and diabetes.

Is The Low Sugar Diet Plan What You Need For Weight Loss?

Unless you are a diabetic, I would say that this diet is not for you. The low sugar diet plan is to control the amount of sugar entering your body to prevent insulin shock and is not truly designed for quick or sustainable weight loss. If your goal is to lose weight in a healthy controlled manner then you need to learn what your body needs and what the right foods are.

Basically, the low sugar diet plan is based on sound reasoning for the diabetic but it is nothing more than another fad diet for the rest of us. A low sugar diet plan isn't the miracle diet you are looking for sustainable weight loss. Having a healthy lifestyle with exercise and healthy eating will always generate the quick and sustainable weight loss we are looking for.
