Social Eating Doesn't Have to Ruin Your Diet Plan

We all have that friend, you know the one. She or he is the one who always seems able to eat everything and anything in sight, without ever putting on a pound. They are the friend we love to hate, and the friend we envy for their super-metabolic capabilities. But oftentimes they are also the friend who insists that we eat everything they do. Skinny or not, they do not want to look like a pig, so they encourage us to take a bit of everything they're sampling. They do not do it maliciously, but only because they want to see us enjoy ourselves, the way they are.

Peer pressure has become a dirty phrase in our society, but it does not have to be that way. If you have a friend who is also trying to lose weight, or at least stay lean, make a pact with them to keep one another away from the overeating train. Knowing there is someone there with the same goals, who is watching you like a hawk, can be a very powerful force in keeping you in check.

More empty calories can be consumed through the intake of sugary soda than with all of the food on the buffet line. If you are looking to cut back on calories, a great place to start is with the drinks. This not only goes for sodas, but with high calorie alcoholic drinks as well. Try to steer yourself toward water, or a light beer, if you're inclined to drink at the party.
