How to Lose Weight Without a Diet Plan

Dieting most of us assume involves weighing, measuring and counting, in conjunction with an exercise regime. We do have an alternative. It need not be quite as daunting as we may think. In fact it is possible to lose weight just by making a few adjustments to the way we approach our lifestyle.

For example:

- An increase in exercise levels.

We can increase our calorie burning every day just by embarking on a daily work out programme. We should think about starting an exercise regime if we do not already have one in place. If this seems a little daunting, then we could begin by just increasing our levels of activities that we do on a daily basis.

It is easy to increase our activity in so many ways, even simple tasks such as window cleaning or running up stairs instead of walking all burn calories and help to lose those unwanted pounds. Mowing the lawn or taking the dog or our children for a brisk walk all help burn those calories.

- Reduce our food intake.

We are led to believe that we should avoid certain food and drink in order to lose weight, but this is not necessarily the case. We can lose weight by just reducing the quantity of food we eat during each snack or meal that we eat. It is possible to shed a few pounds each month by following this plan. Instead of filling our plate at meal time, we should aim in trying to reduce the quantity by half. If we normally have 2 slices of toast with breakfast, reduce this to one and replace the other with a little fruit. We should take it a step at a time, and gradually we will be able to make substantial changes in our eating habits and be satisfied with much smaller portions.

- Eat quality foods.

The quality of the foods that we eat can make a huge difference to our weight loss. Try eating whole-grain or granary bread instead of white, use skimmed milk and yoghurt instead of full fat. Use fresh fruit as an alternative dessert instead of high calorie sweets. Replace tea, coffee and soda drinks with water, not only will we be reducing our caffeine and sugar intake, but we will also be helping hydrate our body. These may be only small changes but they can have excellent results.

- Change how we eat.

Many of us rush our meals. We should try to get into the habit of slowing down. Instead of rushing our food we should slow down when chewing our food before swallowing. Many of us are guilty of eating our food whilst engrossed in the television, we should attempt to change this habit and dine properly at the table with no distractions. These may be only small changes to the way we live our lives, but by making even small habit changes we will be reprogramming ourselves to eat much healthier and possibly find the solution to losing weight without dieting.
