Diets For Weight Loss - How to Choose a Diet Plan

There are far too many diets for weight loss to choose from. Diet plan shopping is far too complicated without an idea of what works. Some diets are okay, others are effective, but by and large, they're just gimmicky. Some plans are even flat out bad for your health. What you need to know is what really makes a diet work.

Back to the Basics-Diet and Exercise

The longest running dietary advice is the springboard for any effective weight loss plan. Doctors and nutritionists have universally suggested diet and exercise for weight loss. Any safe and effective plan begins there.

Since the dietary part is the most tricky, let's start with exercise. The essential plan for weight loss is cardiovascular exercise. Where you start depends largely on your size. If you're only looking at losing relatively few pounds-say up to 60-ellipticals and exercise bikes are perfectly fine.

If you're extremely overweight, you probably don't want to jump on an elliptical or an exercise bike. Start by walking-parks don't usually charge admission, and if you're with friends, you don't have to deal as much with harassment. Ultimately, while you do have to meet certain goals to lose weight, you don't have to kill yourself, either.

Planning Out Your Diet Considerations

Just like with your exercise plan, your diet considerations shouldn't involve extreme changes. You need a plan to gradually change your diet from an unhealthy one to a healthy one that you can stick with. You might also consider affirmations to help you along.

The first thing that needs to go is carbs. While carbohydrates are necessary, most people eat way too many, and it shows. Remember the rule, that if it's white, it has to go. Eggs, milk and soy are all things that you should quit if you really want to lose weight fast.

Animal protein is a key element in losing weight, and the redder it is, the better. Even bacon can play a role in your weight loss. Is there a catch? Yes, in that all your meat should be organic or wild game.

The reason is that commercially raised and processed meat has all kinds of additives that are stumbling blocks for you in your weight loss goals. Vitamin C and zinc, which are essential in burning fat, are spent in protecting you from many of these additives. Other additives, such as growth hormones, can actually reverse the weight loss process if you ingest too much of them.

Hope for Those on Vegan Diets

This plan can seem to exclude people who eat vegan diets. While these diets aren't ideal for weight loss by excluding meat, there are protein sources that can take up some of the slack. Chiefly, organic and unroasted nuts and nut products such as peanut butter can close the gap between you and those who are omnivorous.
