Why Do 98% of Fat Loss Diet Plans Fall Short?

There are 3 major reasons that set up 98% of the fat loss diet plans for failure. Let us go through these reasons and look closely at them.

The first reason why 98% of fat loss diet plans fall short is that while times are different, our bodies still behave the way they did centuries ago.

Centuries ago, dependable food sources were not around, and therefore, our bodies are still made for hunting and gathering for times when there was not a lot of food around. These were times when there were no food-filled refrigerators 10 feet away, and one could not stop at a drive-thru on the way home. In fact, our ancestors worked extremely hard to find food; the option was not eating at all. There were times they would have to live on very little or no nutrition.

So, for them to manage, their bodies had to find out a way to get through such times of shortage. To make amends, their bodies slowed down their metabolisms and stored more calories as fat when food was around; this made sure that there would be a back-up energy source for times when there was hardly any food. While most of us living in the developed world do not need this survival mechanism, it still exists.

Therefore, when you follow a diet plan that limits your caloric intake, your body counters by shifting into survival mode and not allowing you to achieve your desired results. When your metabolism naturally eases up, your body will store more fat and burn less of it. Even worse, you lose much of your lean muscle tissue.

Secondly, 98% of fat loss diet plans fall short because they leave us feeling starved.

Limited calorie fat loss diet plans keep you in a state of hunger, leaving you with a continuous growling in your stomach and an uncomfortable pain that comes when it is void of food. You will not be able to take your mind off of food.

How long do you think you can keep living in that state?

Unless you start to eat regular meals again, the piercing hunger pains from these fat loss diet plans will not go away. I do not know of anyone who can live under such conditions all the time and I think 99% or more of the population cannot either.

Do you think you can lose weight and keep it off when you are depending on fat loss diet plans that are not possible to sustain and bound to fall through?

Thirdly, 98% of the fat loss diet plans fail because reasons 1 and 2 work together to generate situations that make sure failure will happen.

Even after you give up on these low-calorie fat loss diet plans, there is more in store for you.

Your body has now been taught to store more fat and burn less of it, as a result of keeping it starved for long periods of time. Resume eating normally, and I guarantee that you will end up adding more pounds faster than before. (This is referred to as "yo-yo dieting"!).

To make matters worse, any weight that you might have lost from one of these fat loss diet plans was most likely retained water and lean muscle mass. The scale might show a smaller reading, but your goal of losing body fat was crushed.

With all these factors included it is no surprise that 98% of fat loss diet plans fall short.
